HC Deb 28 March 1991 vol 188 c533W
Mr. Win Griffiths

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what action he proposes to take following the representations he has received on the problems of pollution and flooding along the River Severn.

Mr. Baldry

Water pollution control in England and Wales is primarily the responsibility of the National Rivers Authority. Representations received by my Department about local water quality or pollution problems along the River Severn are referred to the NRA in the first instance. Matters relating to flooding are the responsibility of my right hon. Friend the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
