§ Mr. LeighI am today laying orders and regulations under the Estate Agents Act 1979 to improve standards in the conduct of estate agency. I am convinced that these measures will deal effectively with malpractices by estate agents and significantly improve consumer protection. The Estate Agents (Specified Offences) Order will come into effect on 13 May and the Estate Agents (Undesirable practices) Order and the Estate Agents (Provision of Information) Regulations will come into force on 29 July.
