To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what criteria are followed in determining whether persons are fit and proper for the purposes of controlling banking operations.

The criteria for determining whether persons are fit and proper for the purposes of controlling banking operations are set out in schedule 3 of the Banking Act 1987 and are explained further in the statement of principles on section 16 of the Act.
