To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will list the changes in the manpower numbers and manpower costs that are expected for each of the directorate of fisheries research, the sea fisheries inspectorate and the marine environmental protection division, and the reasons for those changes, between 1989–90, 1990–91 and 1991–92.

Variations in numbers of staff in post in the directorate and inspectorate reflect in the main difficulties in recruitment of staff to fill vacancies. Additional staff were appointed to the marine environmental protection division to ensure effective administration of licensing controls.
