HC Deb 27 March 1991 vol 188 c428W
Sir David Steel

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry on what grounds BAe was given an export licence to exhibit a jet trainer aircraft at the Baghdad arms exhibition in 1989.

Mr. Sainsbury

It has been the practice of successive Governments not to comment on individual export licence cases.

Applications for export licences are considered on their merits. Licences for international exhibitions normally require the goods to remain under the control of the exporter and to be returned to the United Kingdom within a specified period.
