HC Deb 25 March 1991 vol 188 c319W
Mr. Rooker

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how long work is expected to continue on the Thornbridge viaduct of the M6 motorway; what are the reasons for continuing work; and if he has made any arrangements for his contractors to consult and inform nearby local residents regarding the disturbance from the works.

Mr. Chope

[holding answer 22 March 1991]: Work currently under way for the installation of cathodic protection systems on the viaduct substructure between Beeches road and Thornbridge avenue should be finished by May 1991. A further similar contract south of Thornbridge avenue is expected to start in April 1991 and will last approximately 11 months.

The work is part of the strategy for maintaining the midland links viaducts. In the interests of local residents, work on these contracts is limited to daytime hours.
