HC Deb 25 March 1991 vol 188 c280W
Mr. Flynn

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make it his policy to instruct the United Kingdom ambassador to the Board of governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency to seek to put on the agenda of the next IAEA governors' meeting the issues of(a) strengthening international nuclear safeguards and (b) the effects on the IAEA safeguards regime of the bombing of safeguarded nuclear facilities in Iraq.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

The director general of the IAEA raised a number of safeguards issues in his statement to the board of governors meeting in February.

The UK governor agreed that these were important matters to which the board would need to return at its next meeting.
