§ Mr. Archie HamiltonHMS Endurance was completed as the MV Anita Dan in 1956. She was subsequently purchased by the Ministry of Defence and converted to an ice patrol ship in 1967–68. HMS Endurance is capable of operating until the mid-1990s. The requirement for a replacement is being studied.
