§ Mrs. Virginia BottomleyThe names of the chairmen and non-executives of the North Middlesex National Health Service trust are available from the Library.
Non-executive directors are chosen for the personal contribution they can make to the effective management of the trust rather than for particular formal qualifications they hold. The chief executive is appointed by the chairman and non-executive directors. Other executive directors are appointed by the chairman, the non-executive directors and the chief executive and the appointments are thus a matter for the trust itself. The qualifications for executive directors are laid down in the National Health Service Trusts (Membership and Procedure) Regulations 1990 paragraph 4. (S.I. 1990, No. 2024).
