To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will make a statement on inward investment from the United States of America.

The United Kingdom continues to be the preferred location for United States investment in Europe. United States Department of Commerce figures show that at end 1989 Britain's share of United States direct investment into the European Community stood at 41 per cent., representing a stock figure of over £30 billion.
