To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment when a rents-to-mortgages scheme for the new town tenants at Milton Keynes will come into operation.

Milton Keynes development corporation is today writing to its tenants inviting them to consider buying their homes under rents to mortgages. Sales will be completed before the transfer of the corporation's housing stock to new landlords.

I warmly welcome this further opportunity for new town tenants at Milton Keynes to own their homes.
