To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement on the effectiveness of the machinery for reviewing alleged miscarriages of justice.

This will be among the matters to be considered by the Royal Commission on criminal justice, which was announced by my right hon. Friend the Home Secretary on 14 March.
