HC Deb 18 March 1991 vol 188 c45W
Dr. Godman

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many dentists have left the national health service since the introduction of the new contract.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

Between 1 October 1990, when the new contract was introduced in Scotland, and 28 February 1991, 75 general dental practitioners have resigned from the NHS; 13 have retired and 106 have been admitted to health board dental lists. The net effect is an increase of 18 general dental practitioners providing NHS general dental services in Scotland.
