To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security, pursuant to his answer of 16 January,Official Report, column 535, giving figures on the hours worked by people with disabilities, if he will indicate the source of his statistics; and whether these figures have been used in determining the likely take-up of the proposed disability working allowance.

The information to which the hon. Member refers was obtained from the Office of Population Censuses and Surveys disability surveys. Estimates of the cost and case load of the disability working allowance have been largely based on data from these surveys.
