§ Mr. Lennox-BoydWe welcomed the free elections in Burma in May 1990 and deplore the continuing failure of the Burmese military authorities to respond to the people's clearly expressed will. We have repeatedly called on the Burmese authorities to release political detainees and to end violations of human rights. We shall continue to take every opportunity to make our views known to the Burmese authorities, along with fellow EC members and other like minded states.
