HC Deb 14 March 1991 vol 187 c667W
Mr. Ashley

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security whether polycythaemia has been accepted as attributable to service by nuclear test veterans in addition to leukaemia and multiple myeloma.

Mr. Scott

Expert medical authorities now accept that polycythemia rubra vera may be looked upon as a disease similar to certain types of leukaemia. If the condition occurs in a British nuclear test participant, it will be certified as attributable to service for war pension purposes.
