HC Deb 14 March 1991 vol 187 c648W
Mr. Alan Williams

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what is the cost of minor operations carried out by general practitioners and the cost of equivalent treatment through the hospital service.

Mr. Nicholas Bennett

The new contract for GPs, which came into force on I April 1990, introduced a new payment to GPs who personally provide minor surgery services and who are on the minor surgery list of their local family health services authority. In Wales payments made to GPs since the introduction of the scheme amount to £513,187. Information regarding the cost of equivalent treatment through the hospital service is not held centrally.
