HC Deb 14 March 1991 vol 187 c679W
Mr. Bill Michie

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, pursuant to his answer of 30 January,Official Report, column 545, if he will give the reasons for the high costs of losses to the emergency food stocks in 1989–90 when set against the average of the preceding years from 1979–80; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Curry

Details of the stock losses for 1989–90 are published in the Appropriation Accounts 1989–90, volume 3. The higher incidence of losses resulted from a disposal in that year of an accumulation of downgraded stocks.
