Mr. William Ross

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will publish a table in the0Official Report to show for each of the months of June, July, August, September and October the average price received for fat lambs in the principal markets of Northern Ireland in the years 1975, 1980, 1985, 1988, 1989 and 1990, showing also the average final price received by the farmer taking into account sums which arise from market support payments, all prices to be shown in cash and real terms taking 1975 as the base year, or as much of such information as is available to him.

Mr. Hanley

Estimates of prices received for finished lambs in the principal markets in Northern Ireland for the months of June, July, August, September and October in the years 1975, 1980, 1985, 1988, 1989 and 1990 are given in the following tables in current prices and in real terms. Since 1982, market support for sheep has not been based on payments on lambs marketed but is paid, on a per ewe basis, to those keeping eligible breeding ewes. Therefore lamb prices which include market support payments are not available.
