HC Deb 12 March 1991 vol 187 c446W
Mr. Soley

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what instructions have been given to the staff on the use of the Thames North and Thames South offices in handling homeless claimants.

Miss Widdecombe

Staff engaged on income support operations have been advised that the offices at Thames North and Thames South cater for single men and women without a settled way of life or who normally reside in certain hostels or resettlement units. The offices are not intended for use by temporarily homeless or unemployed people who do not normally have an itinerant way of life and who have come to London and the south-east in search of work.
