To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will request the Saudi Arabian Government to speed up the provision of a telephone cable in order to operate the 20 Mercury telephones waiting to be installed in Al Jubayl.

[holding answer 7 March 1991]: I am informed that Mercury Communications Ltd. is now in the process of providing equipment so that its 20 payphones in the Al-Jubayl area may become operational. The complete system is scheduled to be in service within 10 days.
