To ask the Minister for the Civil Service how the "next steps" initiative will affect services to the general public; and if he will make a statement.

"Next steps" is already delivering improved service to the public. We have recently published a White Paper—Cm 1261—giving many examples of what agencies are doing to consult their customers and give better service. We should see more and more of this.
