HC Deb 06 March 1991 vol 187 c167W
Mr. Hardy

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what action he is taking to ensure that moneys provided by the European Community in support of regional need are neither classed as items of United Kingdom public expenditure nor limited because of any curb on public spending imposed by Her Majesty's Government.

Mr. Mellor

The estimated moneys provided by the European Community in support of regional need, as with other receipts from the European Community, are taken into account in setting our public expenditure programmes, which are thus higher than they would otherwise be.
