HC Deb 06 March 1991 vol 187 cc219-20W
Dr. Godman

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the present established strength of officer, control assistant grades and ambulance crews of the ambulance service; and what plans there are for changes.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

The current establishment is 149 officers, 79 control assistants, 1,347 accident and emergency and 587 non-emergency crew staff. From the additional £8 million which I have made available to the ambulance service for 1991–92, plans are being formulated to improve the service by increasing double manning and the number of staff with extended training skills.
