HC Deb 05 March 1991 vol 187 cc110-1W
26. Mr. Jack Thompson

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what steps he is taking to improve the performance of family health service authorities in meeting primary care targets.

Mr. Dorrell

All family health services authorities (FHSAs) have been funded to appoint independent medical advisers to advise general practitioners on clinical and organisational issues. FHSAs can also target funds for GP premises and staff (for example, practice nurses) to support GPs in areas of greatest need. In addition many have appointed facilitators to work with GPs in establishing and improving their health promotion services.
