§ Mr. AltonTo ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what capital works required at Wavertree Church of England school he authorised at the time of its establishment; when they will be completed; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. FallonStatutory proposals approved on 22 June 1990 provided for the site and buildings of Wavertree Church of England voluntary controlled school to be upgraded and extended as necessary in order to accommodate about 210 pupils, including pupils displaced by the closure of St. Mary's and St. Bridget's CE voluntary controlled primary schools.
In setting Liverpool's annual capital guideline (ACG) for 1991–92 we have taken full account of the authority's plans for this project. It is, however, for local education authorities to decide what capital projects to undertake, and when, taking account of their obligation to implement approved statutory proposals.
