HC Deb 01 March 1991 vol 186 cc635-6W
Mr. Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will provide regional specialism funding to expand the number of in-patient children's beds at the Prince of Wales orthopaedic hospital, Rhydlafar, to meet the demand for leg-lengthening and analogous treatments.

Mr. Nicholas Bennett

There are no plans to provide central funding for these treatments, which will continue to be the responsibility of the district health authority under the new purchaser and provider functions which come into effect on 1 April 1991.

Mr. Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what consultations he has had with the chairman of South Glamorgan health authority regarding the number of beds for the current intake of patients in the children's ward at the Prince of Wales Orthopaedic Hospital, Rhydlafar, Cardiff; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Nicholas Bennett

None. This is a matter for South Glamorgan health authority.
