HC Deb 01 March 1991 vol 186 cc636-7W
Mr. Ieuan Wyn Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy how much money has been allocated by the United Kingdom Government towards energy conservation in each of the last 10 years.

Mr. Heathcoat-Amory

Improvements in energy efficiency are promoted within a range of Government programmes. Information on some of these was given in the 1989 National Audit Office report, "National Energy Efficiency" (HC 547). It is not normally possible to attribute expenditure between the energy efficiency and other objectives of the programmes, and reliable estimates of total expenditure in each of the last 10 years is not available.
