HC Deb 27 June 1991 vol 193 c532W
Mr. Blunkett

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how many young people under the age of 25 years are in receipt of(a) community charge benefit and (b) housing benefit.

Miss Widdecombe

The most recent survey information indicates that in May 1989, a total of 460,000 householders aged less than 25 years in Great Britain were in receipt of housing benefit. This estimate excludes those under 25 years old in Scotland who were in receipt of community charge rebate, but who were not receiving help with rent; this information is not available.
