§ Mr. MaplesOn a balance of payments basis the United Kingdom volume of exports of manufactures' is estimated to have risen by an average of 2 per cent. a year between 1974 and 1979. The equivalent figure for the period 1979 to 1990 is 4 per cent. a year.
