HC Deb 27 June 1991 vol 193 c540W
Dr. Thomas

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what consultations he has had with the Red Cross and the Red Crescent concerning the investigation of the disappearance of the British television journalist, Roseanna Della Casa, and the deaths of Nick Della Casa and Charles Maxwell in the Turkish-Iraqi border region; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

The British mission to the United Nations in Geneva first raised the matter of the disappearance of Rosanna della Casa, Nicholas della Casa and Charles Maxwell with the International Committee of the Red Cross on 17 April 1991. ICRC delegates in Iraq have since then had many written and oral contacts with the Iraqi authorities. They continue actively to pursue the disappearance of Rosanna della Casa.

We maintain regular contact with the ICRC in Geneva. We have had no direct contacts with the Red Crescent.
