To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will make a statement on the declassification of the details of the horizontal take-off and landing launcher engine.

Mr. Flynn

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what is the reason for the declassification of the design of engines of the horizontal take-off and landing space plane.

Mr. Alan Clark

When the order prohibiting publication of the relevant patent applications was last reviewed, it was considered that technological advances had reduced the sensitivity of the detailed specifications sufficiently to allow them to be released.
