To ask the Secretary of State far Energy if he will make a statement on the responsibilities of the International Atomic Energy Authority with respect to monitoring the use made in civil nuclear programmes of fissile materials produced originally for military purposes.

All civil nuclear material in the United Kingdom, whatever its origin, is subject to Euratom safeguards and to the terms of the IAEA-UKE-uratom safeguards agreement—INFCIRC-263.

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy whether fissile material produced for military purposes in the United Kingdom is suitable for civil purposes.
