To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement on the effect of the current downturn on the economy in the north-west and south-east.

No regions are immune from the current recession, but falling inflation will provide a firm foundation for economic growth in the north-west and south-east and throughout the United Kingdom.
