To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the latest developments in the EPU-EMU inter-governmental negotiations.

Mr. Garel-Jones

The IGCs on EMU and political union have made good progress, but a number of problems remain to be resolved during the next months of negotiations before the shape of the final packages will become clear. I expect the European Council on 28–29 June to take stock of the negotiations so far.
