Mr. Gareth Wardell

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list for each of the last 10 years, and for each local education authority area in Wales, the number of statements of special educational need issued, separately distinguishing between primary and secondary schools.

The number of children for whom statements of special educational need were made for the first time are given in the following table. Information on the number of new statements issued is not available by sector nor for years prior to 1986.
