HC Deb 24 June 1991 vol 193 cc397-8W
Mr. Austin Mitchell

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will list the parties who responded to the draft of the statutory instrument relating to the disclosure of non-audit fees and opposed it.

Mr. Redwood

A number of responses were received, some of which expressed opposition to the use at the present time of the Secretary of State's power to require the disclosure of non-audit fees paid to a company's auditors and their associates. It would not be appropriate to disclose the views of identified respondents, since they were not told beforehand that their views would be made public.

Mr. Austin Mitchell

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, further to his reply to the hon. Member for Great Grimsby on 20 May,Official Report, column 333, on what date he intends the statutory instrument relating to disclosure of non-audit fees would come into operation.

Mr. Redwood

No date has yet been decided.
