Mr. Dorrell

1 All figures are independently rounded to the nearest hundred (100). Percentages are calculated on unrounded figures.
2 These data have not been adjusted to take into account reductions in the standard working week, e.g. the reduction in nurses working hours from 41 to 37.5 per week which took place in 1980–81. There is therefore a discontinuity in the time series and the figures should be interpreted with caution.
3 Comparability affected by the NHS re-organisation that took place in 1974. Figures include data relating to ambulance personnel employed by the Local authorities.
