HC Deb 20 June 1991 vol 193 cc283-4W
Mr. Fatchett

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will set out the capital allocation for each grant-maintained school for(a) 1990–91 where appropriate and (b) 1991–92 and the purpose for each capital allocation.

Mr. Eggar

[pursuant to his reply, 13 June 1991, c. 644–48]: On 23 January I announced at column201 allocations for named capital projects at grant-maintained schools. Nine schools which were approved for grant-maintained status towards the end of 1990 submitted capital bids in 1991. These schools will receive allocations for named capital projects with a total value of £778,000 to begin in 1991–92. It is assumed that about £579,000 of this sum will be spent in 1991–92.

The bids were considered on the same basis as those submitted earlier. Priority has been given to schools' most pressing needs, including projects related to the health and safety of pupils, and to projects concerned with the introduction of the national curriculum, especially in science and technology.

The following is a list of the named capital allocations.
