HC Deb 20 June 1991 vol 193 cc275-6W
Mr. Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security, pursuant to his answer of 14 June,Official Report, column 697, what is his most up-to-date estimate of the numbers of households which (a) claimed, (b) were granted, (c) were refused and (d) still have claims pending for special cold weather payments for February; and if he will estimate how many would have been paid if his new automatic arrangements for payment had been in force in February.

Mr. Scott

It is not possible to provide estimated figures for February, but complete figures for the winter period will be placed in the Library when they are available. If automatic arrangements had been in force in February, there would have been about 2.6 million payments for each week of cold weather.
