§ Mr. BlunkettTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, pursuant to his answer of 4 June,Official Report, column 166, with regard to Sheffield urban development corporation, if he will make a statement on the part played by Sheffield development corporation in the establishment of the Meadowhall shopping complex and the jobs created there.
§ Mr. Portillo[holding answer 18 June 1991]: At the inception of Sheffield development corporation in June 1988, development of the Meadowhall complex was already under way. I expect Meadowhall, in common with other commercial enterprises in the area, to benefit from the commitment to regeneration evidenced by the urban development corporation.
