HC Deb 19 June 1991 vol 193 c199W
Sir Eldon Griffiths

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what information he has on the time and cost involved for music users in appealing to the Copyright Tribunal agency in respect of tariffs imposed on them by the Performing Rights Society.

Mr. Leigh

The basic fee for an application to the Copyright Tribunal to settle a dispute with a copyright licensing body such as the Performing Rights Society is £30. The overall cost will depend on several factors including the level of any legal representation the applicant may choose to employ and the degree to which the application is successful. In appropriate cases, the tribunal may direct the licensing body to repay charges already paid under a new tariff and to pay the applicant's costs.
