To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what proportion of total United Kingdom inward investment was made in Scotland in 1990; and if he will make a statement.

According to the figures recorded by the Invest in Britain Bureau, in 1990 Scotland attracted 11·5 per cent. of the total number of inward investment projects coming to the United Kingdom, and 36 per cent. of planned new jobs.
