HC Deb 19 June 1991 vol 193 cc191-2W
Mr. Simon Hughes

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how many civil service personnel have been involved in considering the report into evaluation of nitrogen oxide abatement technologies for large combustion plants; what is the current total of staff hours devoted to consideration of the report; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Baldry

For the purposes of part I of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, the technology for the control of emissions of nitrogen oxides from large combustion plant is currently being reviewed by Her Majesty's inspectorate of pollution. The report to which the hon. Member refers is being taken into account in that review. It is not possible to provide a separate estimate of the number of staff hours devoted to the report.
