§ Mr. DalyellTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is his policy for extending Commonwealth Development Corporation work in(a) Costa Rica, (b) Ecuador, (c) Nicaragua and (d) Honduras.
§ Mrs. ChalkerThe Commonwealth Development Corporation already provides assistance to Costa Rica, Ecuador and Honduras. Approval for the corporation to operate in Nicaragua was given in March this year, and the CDC is currently investigating a number of investment opportunities there. In pursuing all such opportunities the CDC seeks to increase the proportion of new commitments in the private sector.
