§ Mr. McLoughlinThe Department makes use of a wide range of data sources to inform transport policy decisions with environmental implications. The principal statistical series used are set out in annex B of the environment White Paper "This Common Inheritance"—Cm. 1200. Many research projects involve the collection of data specific to the problem being studied.
The following list details projects in the Department's current research programme with a substantial environmental element. Information on research covering the whole of the Department's responsibilities commissioned or published since 1979 could be produced only at disproportionate cost.
