§ Mr. RedmondTo ask the Lord President of the Council if he will list the full-time and part-time public appointments for which his Department was responsible for each of the past five years together with the salary and the date when each appointment is due for renewal.
§ Mr. MacGregorMy Department is responsible for the procedures leading to a large number of Crown, Privy Council and Lord President appointments, including visitors and members of governing bodies of universities and colleges, members of councils regulating the medical and paramedical professions, high sheriffs and inspectors of schools. The vast majority of these appointments are part-time and unpaid, while the salaries of inspectors of schools are a matter for the Department of Education and Science. Full details of all appointments made during the last five years could not be compiled except at disproportionate cost.
