HC Deb 18 June 1991 vol 193 c114W
Mr. Michael

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what assessment he has made of the ability of the administration now controlling most of northern Somalia to achieve stability and peace in that part of the country.

Mrs. Chalker

It is hard to make a reliable independent assessment of the situation on the ground in northern Somalia. It appears that the Somali National Movement is in control of most of the area, but there have been reports of fighting in the east.
