Mr. JacksonInformation for employees in employment according to industry and by parliamentary constituency is available only from the censuses of employment taken in 1984, 1987 and 1989. At September 1984, there were an estimated 2,500 employees employed176W in coal mining (activity heading 1113 of the standard industrial classification) in the Neath constituency. The comparable figures for 1987 and 1989—September of each of those years—are 1,300 and 600 respectively.
