Mr. Dobson

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what was the total expenditure by his Department on press and public relations, including staff and running costs, in 1979–80 and in each following year; and what is his estimate for 1990–91 and budget for 1991–92.

Further to the answers which I gave to the hon. Member on 25 and 30 April,Official Report, column 492, and column 137, respectively, the latest estimate of outturn for 1990–91 is £7.7 million and the current budget for 1991–92 is £6.8 million; the latter figure excludes Property Services Agency services and the Queen Elizabeth II conference centre where budgets have not yet been finalised.
